Our highly experienced staff team follow the home routine of each baby as closely as possible whilst they are in our Shining Stars baby room. Parents are asked to supply nappies and milk to ensure continuity between home and nursery for all babies.
This room has a spacious play area as well as a quiet and secure sleeping area. We provide a variety of stimulating activities in a caring and friendly environment to promote your baby's all-round development. All activity planning is displayed for you to to view.
When your baby is around 12 months and once they have found their feet we would encourage them to advance to the Little Explorers room. This would take place after discussions with yourself.
Time spent in the Little Explorers Room provides a smooth transition to the toddler stage by adopting a more challenging and varied approach to the day. Activities such as painting, sand and water play, music, and physical activity are facilitated for the continued development of your child. This may sound a little complicated for young children, but it is possible for an eighteen month old child to play with sand and water or create a mini masterpiece with paint, and they love it!
Children in our Little Explorers Room are cared for under the supervision of qualified and experienced staff, with a staff ratio of 1:3. Each child’s day is recorded for you to take home so you know exactly what your child has been up to.
After staying in our Little Explorers Room we will look to move your child to our Busy Bee Room, usually when your child is about 2 years old.
The activities in this room are designed to provide your child with a more structured day with a much greater choice of learning opportunities including arts and crafts, construction activities, outdoor play and table top games. We will also introduce early numeracy and literacy skills and activities designed to develop your child’s communication skills.
In our Busy Bee Room children are cared for under the supervision of experienced staff (Staff Ratio 1:5). Your child’s day is recorded for you to take home so you will know what they have been learning at Bright Beginnings Nursery.
Bright Beginnings Nursery is recognised as a 3-5 year old centre by the Education Department. In both our Rainbow and our Butterflies Room children will follow the Curriculum for Excellence. These rooms have a staff ratio of 1:8.
We pride ourselves on ensuring that when children leave the nursery to move on to school they do so confidently and independently, taking with them the enjoyment of learning and a pride in their achievements. We strive for your child to have the following skills when leaving the nursery: recognising and writing their own name, demonstrating good observational skills, showing preliminary reading skills, handling good pencil control, showing creative skills and knowledge of numbers.
We love to get outside here at Bright Beginnings! We have a large outdoor play area for our 2-5 year olds, a separate garden for our Little Explorers (1-2 year olds) and a smaller garden are for our babies. All our outdoor areas provides children with opportunities to get fresh air and have fun in a safe and secure environment. Our Pre-schoolers children love playing with our our mud kitchen, fire burner, tool shed, bikes and a fairy garden!
As well as access to our fabulous outdoor play areas, children of all ages enjoy regular walks in the local area. Our youngest children are often seen out in our double buggies enjoying the fresh air, sights and sounds of the local community. We use Walkodile Child Safety Systems and high visibility vests to keep children safe when out on trips away from the nursery. We believe there is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing – so we ask parents to provide their children with appropriate clothing for all types of weather, from wellington boots to sunglasses!
